B.A. Pass Course (Political Science)
Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Pass Course) Political Science is an undergraduate degree course with Political Science as a subject. Political Science is an integral subject of social science i.e. it is concerned with practice and principles of politics. It is also an analysis and interpretation of political systems. It covers all aspects of the political system of a country and it also gives an insight to the major constitutions of the world. Political Science covers a wide area of knowledge and it provides an individual with knowledge of various fields and links him with the political systems apart from these it also deals with major foreign policies, international organisations and also foreign relations. The subject gives a boost to the general knowledge of students which is quite beneficial for preparation of various competitive exams.. The department organizes Seminars, Guest lectures and Discussion on the current socio-political issues from time to time which assists in the actualization of the theoretical base. The debates and discussions not only improves the speaking skills of students but also builds confidence among them. Political Science is the most sought subject for arts graduates as it widely covers the UPSC syllabus, which is an added advantage for civil services aspirants. Completion of BA Pass Course with Political Science as a subject offers great career prospects in various fields.

Pass 12th class or intermediate under the scheme (10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible for admission in B.A. Part I.
Regarding the reservation of Seats for admission to B.A. Part I, the reservation policy of Govt. of Rajasthan/University of Rajasthan will be followed.
Admission Procedure: Admission to B.A. Part I passcourse will be made on the basis of merit list (10+2 Level).
Attendance: A candidate shall be required to put in a minimum of 75% attendance in theory and 75% attendance in practical separately in each paper, as per university norms.

PO 8 To equip them with profound political knowledge essential to the Political Science degree/ programme
PO 9 To be able to inculcate a propensity and a mind-set for research, defining problems, creating hypothesis, and then testing it through various methods
PO10 To inculcate ability to perform job in different fields such as education, banking, LIC, business, public service, politics, policy making, self-employment etc. where qualities of precision, analytical mind, logical thinking, clarity of thought, qualitative and quantitative decision are required.
The Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) are attained by students through learning acquired on completion of a programme of study. The term ‘programme’ refers to the entire scheme of study followed by learners leading to a qualification. Department of Political Science of St Xavier’s College, Jaipur trains the students to understand basic concepts of Political Science such as Liberty, Equality, Justice, Marxism, Socialism, Right etc. In this department, education means overall personality development of students by enriching their knowledge regarding different political science principles. After successful completion of BA programme with Political Science as a subject, the student would have the following attributes:
PSO1 Demonstrate an understanding about the life sketch of various modern Indian thinkers such as RRMR, Swami Vivekanand, Mahatama Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar.
PSO2 Impart comprehensive understanding about various political ideologies such as Liberalism, Idealism, socialism etc.
PSO3 To impart an ability to communicate effectively and apply knowledge of Political Science in interdisciplinary areas.
PSO4 Demonstrate ability to identify issues and suggest practical solutions of political problems at State, National and International Level
PSO5 To impart broad based knowledge which is necessary to understand the impact of politics in a global, economic, environmental and social context.
PSO6 Demonstrate an understanding about comparative politics and comparative method.
PSO7 Assist in strengthening their knowledge of the fundamentals of Indian politics and International politics.

Making a comparative analysis of the following institutions of UK and USA: Legislature, Executive and party systems.

Exploring the Salient features and the working of Government of India act of 1919 (with special reference to Dyarchy) and 1935(with special reference to Provincial Autonomy).
Analysing the process of framing of Indian constitution, trends and approaches in constituent assembly.
Assessing the scope of Preamble, and the nature of federal system of India and the unitary features of Indian constitution.
Explaining the types, scope and limitations of fundamental rights and directive principles of state policy and a comparison between the two.

Critically Hobbes as the founder of the science of materialist politics; Locke as the founder of Liberalism with focus on his views on natural rights, property and consent; and Rousseau’s views on Freedom and Democracy; Bentham’s Utilitarianism; and John Stuart Mill’s views on liberty and representative government.
