Department of Political Science, St. Xavier’s College, Jaipur organized a movie screening event followed by movie screening competition on September 28th, 2020. The students were shown Denzel Washington’s masterpiece ‘The Great Debaters’. As we know that audio-visual communication has always played an important and influential role in information dissimilation and development of critical approach. By this one tends to learn things fast and in a better way. The event commenced with the address by Rev fr. A Rex Angelo SJ, the principal of the college, who encouraged the use of new information and communication technologies in teaching-learning practices. The film shows how Melvin B Tolson, inspired students to form a debate team which went on to challenge prestigious debate teams of those times at the national level.   Department of Political Science, St Xavier’s College, Jaipur organised Virtual Educational Tour and Online Group Discussion Competition on 21st September 2020. The students were shown a video about structure and functioning of Parliament of India produced by Rajyasabha TV.   It covered the process to pass a bill in both houses of Parliament, architecture and structure of the legislative buildings, the experience and observations of retired dignitaries along with the interviews of senior parliamentarians. It also covered the historical details about statues and portraits in the Parliament. Principal of the college Father Rex Angelo while addressing the students said that educational visits are important tool of learning and visit to parliament will help students learn more about democratic institutional practices.   The Department of Political Science has organized Guest Lecture on the topic "Research methodology in Social Sciences" on 19 September, 2020 on Google meet platform at 12:00pm. The speaker was Dr. Himanshu Roy Associate Professor and Teacher in charge , Department of Political Science , Deen Dayal College, University of Delhi. He threw light on various aspects of Research methodology in Social Sciences. He clarified that the term methodology may be defined as a body of rules and postulates that are employed by researchers in a discipline of study. it was a very interesting and knowledgeful session.
